ELVALEN is a wave-energy-based electric power generator designed for installation anywhere inside a vessel where space is available. Once installed, the device can operate for years without additional intervention. It has three main functions:

  1. Helping maintain batteries during the winter months, when batteries often fail after long periods of non-use due to self-discharge.
  2. Generating additional electrical energy while navigating or when the vessel is moving at berth or anchor. The output power strongly depends on wave frequency and amplitude; under moderate wave conditions, the output is approximately 5 W.
  3. A key feature is the ability to operate the generator manually using a hand crank. ELVALEN is, to our knowledge, the only device that enables electrical energy generation under virtually all conditions. For example, if onboard energy consumption has been excessive and the battery is fully discharged, just a few minutes of manual operation can recharge it enough to start the engine — a capability that can be critical in certain situations.
